TRIBUTES TO DR. LEO  ROY

Dr. Roy passed away in Kelowna on March 3, 2001, after a brief illness and a stroke.

Dr. Roy was a Naturopath and an  M.D.  Like his father before him, Dr. Roy was originally educated as a medical doctor and graduated from the University of Montreal.

After practicing mainstream medicine for several years, he became discouraged with the poor progress his patients made on drug therapies.

It lead him to research  natural methods of  healing,  and ultimately he converted his Toronto practice  to Naturopathy.  He was one of the first doctors in Canada  to treat cancer  with natural remedies.
Subsequently he was persecuted for it by the medical establishment.

Dr. Roy,  who would never  be discouraged,  spent much of his time and  energy on extensive studies over many years,  culminating in his book on cancer.
He was a seeker after truth,  and a great teacher and lecturer.  As a prolific writer he created a whole series of booklets dealing with individual health issues & problems, as a means to educate his patients.
He was generous to a fault in his willingness to share.

Being  light years  ahead  in his holistic approach  to healing,  his written  materials showed quantum leaps in original thought on various health problems.
So did his diagnostic method.
In order to determine the cause and treatment for each condition,  he had developed a computerized  diagnostic  system,  comprising  thousands of  questions in a health questionnaire for the most in- depth analysis.

His death is a very great loss to the Naturopathic profession,  as well as to his many students, patients and friends.
He was one of the great pioneers in that profession and broke the hardest ground for those who follow in helping humanity.

As a friend and former patient of Dr. Leo Roy, I would like to bid farewell to a great man,  who was a fabulous teacher and healing professional.

He was admired by his patients and friends for his extensive & advanced knowledge, as well as for his convictions and stamina to withstand adversity.

Many times over the years I have witnessed him giving out health information, that became the latest news in the media up to 20 years later.

His unique and dedicated efforts have helped countless people and his passing is a great loss to all.

In gratitude for enriching my life with his knowledge,  I have painted his portrait and included it on this site in my tribute to him.
